In the Standard Model, the Higgs field is linked to the Higgs Mechanism, i.e., the process under which the Higgs field give rises to masses of the fundamental fermion and gauge boson fields.

All couplings of the Higgs boson relevant to Higgs collider phenomenology are uniquely predicted. They depend only on two parameters of the Lagrangian, which we can choose as the Higgs boson mass and the vacuum expectation value . Any deviation from the predicted couplings in this section would provide evidence for physics beyond the Standard Model.
